Jose Joseph2015-07-23 22:27:29 NewsA merger between FOKANA and FOMA may be difficult to achieve as long as the personal distrust among some of the top leaders belonging to both organizations still persist. Instead of a merger move, leaders of these organizations could explore the possibility to have an understanding and divide the area of their activities. One of the organizations may involve in the social and cultural activities while the other may concentrate in educational, political, sports and such other activities. Malayalees here may be allowed to participate in the activities of both organizations individually and through their regional member organizations. Just a suggestion.
Panickar one hundred percent I agree with you. Whether religious, nonreligious
or secular Malayalee programs, the so called celebrities occupy much of our
time and they speak out of context and subjects almost all the time. The real
people with knowledge and life experience will get very little time for the
seminar or meeting. The invited Indian celebrities can speak any rubbish and
waste your time. People like Mr. Udayabhanu Panickar or me will be provided
with a last place or an unimportant slot. We have to boycott such celebrities.
They are costly to the regular attendees also.
Now in India we
can see very rarely such police like (Paulose police from Kothamangalam). Most
of our police force are corrupted. Our elected political system and the
Ministers are also corrupted. We may see some straight forward police officers
like Reshi Raj Singh. But our ministers and the political system always want
the police officers dance to the tunes of their corrupt system and salute them.
Unless they obey them they will be punished and disciplined. At the same time
the big shots who do murder, swallow millions of public money, very easily
escape and nobody can find any proof for any crime against such. What kind of
justice and rule of law here for the common mankind? Mr. Tom Jose Thdiayampad
from Liverpool, England:- I like your article and narration. I am proud of that
Poulose police from Kothamangalam, because I belong to Kothamangalam Taluk

For vayanakkaaran- It is not an argument. There so many attorneys appearing here on this page and interpreting
the immigration law according to their whims and fancies.I responded to the comment written by some of
the experts. I don’t have any quarrel with
you on the fact that the children were born in India.

bijuny2015-07-23 20:25:25 NewsNow read this: Infact Kobhrayani's husband ( US citizen) should have renounced his US citizenship and taken Indian citizenship as as pre condition to comply with Indian rules to marry an Indian diplomat, which he didn't do. So that is another violation Indian govt ( previous ) turned a blind eye.
Followin from Indian MEA ( Ministry of external Affairs ):
( copy paste ) The fact that the Ministry of External Affairs chose to look the other way when it came to the question of Ms Devynai Khobragade's husband not taking up Indian citizenship years after their marriage is something well known within the ministry. Sources in the government said no one wanted to apply the rules as long as no one noticed the discrepancy. The rule book of the MEA is quite clear on the matter of IFS officers marrying foreign nationals. Clause 8 (1) of the Indian Foreign Service (Conduct and Discipline) Rules, 1986 says no member of the service shall marry any person other than an Indian citizen "without the prior permission in writing of the Government". Officers who intend to marry foreign nationals have to make a written application to the Foreign Secretary and give the Government one year to reply. Clause 8(3) says: "If a member of the Service contracts marriage with a person other than an Indian citizen without obtaining prior written permission, he shall be liable to be removed from the service". The rules further state that the Government reserves the right to refuse permission if it thinks the marriage affects "the due and proper performance of the duties of the member of the service". In case permission is accorded, "the Government may stipulate such conditions as it may deem appropriate". Permission is granted on the commitment of the IFS officer that his/her spouse will adopt Indian citizenship after the marriage. Sources in the MEA pointed out that in Ms Khobragade's case, this commitment made by her has simply not been kept. To make matters worse, everyone is aware of the rule violation but over the years no action has been taken to correct matters. Highly placed sources in the government also pointed out that when Ms Khobragade was posted to Pakistan, she and her influential father, Mr Uttam Khobragade, pulled enough strings to ensure that the ministry gave permission to her spouse, an American citizen, to reside with her. Many an eyebrow had been raised even then since Pakistan is considered a sensitive posting. When asked for a response on Ms Khobragade's open violation of the rule book, the MEA chose to play it silent, in keeping with tradition over all these years.
വായനക്കാരൻ2015-07-23 20:24:40 NewsThe article clearly states that "Her daughters were born in India". Yet, Anthappan and PodaNY argue on the basis of "her children were born here".
Devyani should have been in jail a long time ago for the multiple times she broke the law across continents.
Indian2015-07-23 20:11:33 NewsCompare this with American police especially when they deal with the colored. The best example is the death of 28 year old Sandra Bland in Texas, who moved her car to another line without signaling.
A police officer was following her and she was trying to avoid him. Yet he flashed him. When he approached her car, she was smoking a cigarette. He asked her to throw it. she refused saying that she was smoking in her own car. The angry, white officer escalated things. she was forcefully handcuffed and put in to jail. (how can a court send her to jail for such a small thing?) she committed suicide in jail on the third day...
