മദ്യപിച്ച് ഇന്ത്യന്‍ യുവതി ഓടിച്ച വാഹനം തട്ടി വഴിയാത്രക്കാരന്‍ മരിച്ച സംഭവം- പ്രതി കുറ്റം സമ്മതിച്ചു

ന്യൂയോര്‍ക്ക് : മദ്യലഹരിയില്‍ വാഹനമോടിച്ചുണ്ടായ അപകടത്തില്‍ വഴിയാത്രക്കാരന്‍ മരിച്ച സംഭവത്തില്‍ ഇരുപതു വയസ്സുള്ള ഇന്ത്യന്‍ യുവതി മലിന സിംഗ് കോടതിയില്‍ കുറ്റസമ്മതം നടത്തി
2014 സെപ്റ്റംബറിലായിരുന്നു കേസിനാസ്പദമായ സംഭവം നടന്നത്. ന്യൂയോര്‍ക്ക് സറട്ടോഗ കൗണ്ടിയിലെ റോഡിനരികിലൂടെ നടന്നുവരികയായിരുന്ന മുപ്പത്തിനാലുവയസ്സുള്ള ജോനാഥാന്‍ റോജേഴ്‌സിനെയാണ് സിംഗ് ഓടിച്ചിരുന്ന ഫോര്‍ഡ് ഫ്യൂഷന്‍ ഇടിച്ചുതെറിപ്പിച്ചത്. ഗുരുതരമായി പരിക്കേറ്റ ജോനാഥന്‍ പിന്നീട് മരിച്ചു.
വെഹികുലര്‍ മാന്‍സ്ലോട്ടറാണ് സിംഗിന്റെ പേരില്‍ ചാര്‍ജ്ജ് ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടത്.
സറട്ടോഗ കൗണ്ടി കോര്‍ട്ട് ജഡ്ജി മാത്യു ജെ.യുടെ മുമ്പാകെ സിംഗ് കുറ്റസമ്മതം നടത്തി.
അപകട സമയത്ത് സിംഗിന്റെ രക്തത്തില്‍ മദ്യത്തിന്റെ അളവ് 0.18 ശതമാനമായിരുന്നുവെന്നും, അനുവദിക്കപ്പെട്ട അളവിന്റെ ഇരട്ടിയായിരുന്നു ഇതെന്നും കോടതി ചൂണ്ടികാട്ടി.
കുറ്റസമ്മതം നടത്തിയ പ്രതിയുടെ ശിക്ഷ ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 10ന് കോടതി വിധിക്കും. രണ്ടു മുതല്‍ ആറുവര്‍ഷം വരെ ശിക്ഷ ലഭിക്കാവുന്ന കുറ്റമാണിത്. ശിക്ഷ പൂര്‍ത്തിയാക്കി കഴിഞ്ഞാല്‍ 3 വര്‍ഷം കൂടി പോലീസിന്റെ നിരീക്ഷണത്തിലായിരിക്കും.

While I feel sorry for this young lady, the news can be used as an educational tool for all of us there are hundreds of Malayaalee American parents and children drive car while intoxicated. If you are arrested there is going to be hefty fine, jail, and suspension of license etc. If you drive a car while intoxicated with a child in it then the punishment is severe. If you kill somebody then the punishment is severe. Youngsters do this kind of things for thrill and excitement and without the knowledge of parents. We all can imagine the agony the family is going through and at the same time let us make a note of this and discuss this kind of things in the family.
My comment is based on the news report only. Look at the “Dream Girl” Hemamalini’s (BJP MP) Driving incident recently. After theEbel 1911 BTR Replica accident she got royal treatment. What about the death and injuries of the other passengers? Where is the case? Where is justice there in India? The common and ordinary people are not going to get justice there.
