20-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his father in the family's
borough home.
Vishal Shah was charged the evening of June 12 with the
murder of his father, Pradipkum Shah, 53, who was shot in his home on June 10 and
died the next day at Robert Wood Johnson
University Hospital
in New Brunswick,
according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey.
Carey said Vishal Shah was also charged with hindering his
own apprehension by hiding the gun that was used in the shooting and the
unlawful possession of the weapon.
Carey said Shah shot his father once in their home on Lakeview Drive in
the Parlin section of the borough at 9:43 a.m. and then hid the weapon, a .25
caliber handgun.
He did not give a motive for the shooting.
Shah was being held in the Middlesex County
jail in lieu of $1 million bail as of Monday morning.
The investigation into the shooting was being handled by Sayreville police Detective Amy Noble and county
Detective David Abromaitis.
Carey said the investigation was active and continuing.
