Murder-Suicide Victims
Were Mother, Daughter: Police
The 42-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl
were found dead Aug. 2 in an apartment unit on Deer Creek Place in Milton.
MILTON, GA -- New details have been released in an apparent murder-suicide discovered last week at an apartment complex in Milton.
Milton officers responded around 2:55 p.m. Aug. 2 to the 5200 block of Deer Creek Place to conduct a welfare check "in reference to a suspicious odor coming from the residence," Milton police spokesperson Lt. Charles Barstow said.
Once inside, officers discovered the bodies of
42-year-old Simla Jose and her daughter, a 15-year-old female juvenile.
While police initially believe the
cause of both deaths to be murder-suicide, Barstow added Milton detectives are
waiting to be updated on the official determination by the Fulton County
Medical Examiner's Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Although the
Medical Examiner’s office may be able to provide their determination much
quicker than the GBI, it will only be preliminary until the GBI provides their
forensic findings," he said.
The incident was Milton's first homicide in 2016, the
agency notes.
