Dad jailed for endangering toddler who's still missing in Richardson, police say

An Amber Alert has been issued for a 3-year-old Richardson girl believed to be in grave and immediate danger, and her father has been arrested in the case.

Wesley Mathews was charged with abandoning or endangering Sherin Mathews, who remains missing as police continue their investigation.  

Sherin, who has development issues and limited verbal communication skills, is described as Asian, about 3 feet tall and 22 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink top, black pajama bottoms and pink flip-flops.

Wesley Mathews last saw his daughter about 3 a.m. Saturday in the family's back yard in the 900 block of Sunningdale. But police reportedly weren't alerted to her disappearance until hours later.

Police went door to door in the neighborhood and used search dogs to look for the girl, and on Saturday evening towed away the family's vehicles to look for "any potential evidence," WFAA-TV reported.
