Father Placed Daughter Outside for Not Drinking Milk: Police
The father of a missing 3-year-old girl at the center of an
active Amber Alert has been arrested. Investigators say Wesley Mathews is now
facing child endangerment charges. There's still no sign of the girl.

Her father told police he told his daughter to stand near a
large tree because she would not drink her milk, according to a probable cause
affidavit filed by police. Wesley Mathews said when he returned fifteen minutes
later, Sherin was gone.

Mathews walked detectives to the tree where the daughter was
last seen which was approximately a hundred feet south of the home and across
the alley.
The probable cause affidavit also states Wesley Mathews told
Sherin Mathews is described as 3 feet tall, weighing 22
pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
Mathews was last seen wearing a pink top, black pajama
bottoms and pink flip-flops.
Police said the toddler suffers from developmental issues
and has limited verbal communication skills.
Amber Alert has been arrested.
Wesley Mathews, father of Sherin Mathews, 3, was arrested on Saturday and
charged with Abandoning or Endangering a Child, according to the Richardson
Police Department Facebook Page.
An Amber Alert was issued for the girl Saturday afternoon after
police said she could be in immediate danger. She still hasn't been located.
Authorities say the girl was last seen by her father outside
their backyard around
Police weren't called to the home in the 900 block of
Sunningdale until some five hours after the child was last seen, according to
Sgt. Kevin Perlich.
He said search teams used dogs and went door-to-door in the
family's neighborhood this morning and into the afternoon but so far had no
leads on the girl's whereabouts.
“We’re trying to pick up any type of scent, or items of
clothing, or anything like that, that might give us a clue she was there,"
said Perlich.
Late Saturday, investigators towed two SUV's and a minivan
from the home as part of a search for "any potential evidence."
Sherin was last seen wearing a pink top and black pajama
bottoms.
The girl has developmental issues and limited verbal
communication skills, police said.

Members of the family's church gathered outside of the home
Saturday afternoon and said the girl's parents were being interviewed at police
headquarters.
