വാഷിംഗ്ടണ്‍: അമേരിക്കന്‍ പ്രസിഡന്റ് ട്രമ്പ് അനധികൃത കുടിയേറ്റക്കാര്‍ക്കെതിരെ സ്വീകരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു സീറോ ടോളന്‍സ് പോളിസിക്കെതിരെ പ്രതിഷേധിച്ച വാഷിംഗ്ടണില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള ഇന്ത്യന്‍ അമേരിക്കന്‍ കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ് അംഗം പ്രമീള ജയ്പാലിനെ അറസ്റ്റു ചെയ്തു. ജൂണ്‍ 28ന് സെനറ്റ് ഓഫീസ് ബില്‍ഡിംഗിന് മുമ്പില്‍ പ്രതിഷേധ പ്രകടനത്തിന്റെ സംഘാടകര്‍ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടതനുസരിച്ച് പ്രസംഗിച്ചതിനാണ് മറ്റു 575 സ്ത്രീകള്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടെ ഇവര്‍ അറസ്റ്റിലായത്.
കുട്ടികള്‍ വേര്‍പ്പെട്ട മാതാപിതാക്കളോടൊപ്പം ചേര്‍ന്ന് അറസ്റ്റ് വരിക്കുന്നതില്‍ ഞാന്‍ അഭിമാനിക്കുന്നു എന്നാണ്പ്രമീള പ്രതികരിച്ചത്.
സെനറ്റ് ഓഫീസ് ഏട്രിയത്തില്‍ നിയമവിരുദ്ധമായി പ്രകടനം നടത്തിയതിന് 50 ഡോളറിന്റെ പിഴ അടയ്ക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള നോട്ടീസ് പ്രമീളക്ക് ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
മൂന്നാം തവണയാണ് ഇതേ വിഷയത്തില്‍ പ്രതിഷേധിച്ചതിന് പ്രമീള അറസ്റ്റു വരിക്കുന്നത്. അമ്മയുടെ മുലപ്പാല്‍ കുടിക്കുന്ന ആറുമാസം പ്രായമുള്ള കുഞ്ഞിനെ അമ്മയില്‍ നിന്നും അകറ്റിയാല്‍ എന്തു സംഭവിക്കുമെന്ന് രണ്ടു വട്ടം ചിന്തിക്കാന്‍ റിപ്പബ്ലിക്കന്‍-ഡമോക്രാറ്റിക്ക് പാര്‍ട്ടിക്കാരോട് പ്രമീള ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു.
ഡിപ്പാര്‍ട്ട്‌മെന്റ് ഓഫ് ഹോംലാന്റ് സെക്യൂരിറ്റി അമ്മമാരില്‍ നിന്നും നീക്കം ചെയ്ത 538 കുട്ടികളെ തിരികെ ഏല്‍പിച്ചുവെങ്കിലും 2000ത്തിലധികം കുട്ടികള്‍ ഇപ്പോഴും തടവിലാണെന്നും പ്രമീള പറഞ്ഞു.
