ഇത് ആക്ഷേപകരം: അറസ്റ്റിനെതിരെ പ്രതിഷേധം

Indian American community strongly protest the arrest of Indian diplomat Dr. Devyani Khobragade while she was taking her child to school.  If this was a matter of Visa,  and payment to a domestic help, then it would have been better to demand the parties involved to come to the Attorney's office for appropriate resolution.

We, as a community, do not see that the proper code of conduct was followed in this matter. We are wondering why the arrest (which we strongly disagree with) was made (according to reports) while taking her daughter to school and why didn't they wait until the end of the day. We do not believe that she would run away from here especially while her child is in school. We do not agree with this arrest of the Indian diplomat in the first place.

Everyone knows that Dr. Devyani has diplomatic status and it appears that it was not taken into consideration.  The child might have traumatized by this arrest.  As reported by the news media it is a visa and salary related matter.  Of course they are serious, but it should have been handled first through dialogue between the US attorney  and the appropriate officials from India.

Indian American community strongly protest the way this matter was handled by the US attorney. As pravasi Indians, we are raising our voice to show our displeasure to such matters affecting the Indian pravasi community here.

There are questions remaining.  We wonder why normal protocol regarding diplomats was not taken into consideration? Why the court order from Delhi was not answered ( we are not sure whether there was any response to this court order)?

This matter should have been consulted between the governments before arresting a deputy consul general and thereby, insulting Indian govt.  As a member of various Pravasi organizations,  I am strongly protesting the arrest of the Indian diplomat Dr. Devyani Khobragade.

Shame. We have to protest strongly against this. She was very helpful for the needy in the consulate.

Indian pravasi community should PROTEST. PRAVASI INDIANS MUST RAISE THEIR VOICE to show our strong displeasure to the US Attorney in handling this matter this way.

Why was she arrested and handcuffed in public? Was she a threat to anyone? Why could not the officials have asked her to appear before them?
This is humiliating. Looks like the US Attorney arrests only Indians.

This is the  second case of this nature the Consulate at NY is facing. The last one was that of Consul Gnl Prabhu Dayal who employed an alien without satisfying US laws.

Both the cases are brought up by individuals came from India to get legal status in USA. The following should be done by Govt of India immediately:

Protect the Consulate officials under the laws applicable to  international diplomatic missions, and request the US court to send back both the accused and the accuser back to India immediately rather than subjecting them to US Laws.

The  person came to USA as a domestic worker of the Dy. Consul General Dr. Devayani, used that opportunity to get Green Card and then US Citizenship exploiting the loop holes of US immigration laws.

Same thing happened last time when CG Prabhu Dayal brought a domestic worker from India! I do not know how many millions were spent in the earlier case by Govt of India to rescue the CG Prabhu Dayal. Now, another litigation!!

There is something basically and seriously wrong happening in the External Ministry of India that is an expert in  'Outsourcing' embassy/consulate services and sending incompetent and ill advised [ legally and administratively] personnel  to work in foreign missions.

WHO SUFFERS ULTIMATELY, THE PRAVASIS AND MOTHER INDIA!!

We have better issues to protest. Let the law of the land take its course for this case.  These consulates, embassies, diplomats what is that they are doing for the pravasi issues such as OCI, Passport renewals, property protection issues etc.  They do not give any consideration for our legitimate requests.  We are trying to resolve problems for all pravasis not just for any one individual. Why we should interfere this particular arrest and related issues. When they are in any country they have to follow the law of the lands. This particular case this diplomat use the tax payer’s money to defend them. But for all us pravasis the consulate or the tax payer’s money is not going to spent for any genuine cases. Anand jone is US jail. Did any of our diplomats, consulate, Ministers protest or raised their voice. There are many pravasis in jail for nothing at all. How many diplomats did something for them? Then all of a sudden why the Indian US pravasis take up this case for protest.  From many sources I know these kinds of immigration, servant visa, wage confusions, misrepresentations are going on. There is no diplomatic immunity for such issues.  Everybody is bound for the law. Equal justice for everybody. Justice for all. Any way I hope for the best for that diplomat for the release.

Why do these diplomats even have to bring servants from India?. Is it because they used to it?. They should stop doing this and live like most of the people here. Use the maid services over here. If they can not afford it aor don't want to do this go back to India or choose another country where they can live with 10 or 20 servants. Yes, the way the arrest was made is not the right thing and it should have been avoided. The strange thing is the consulate people does not share any of our concern but the pravasi' do the other way.
