ഡാളസില്‍ യൂണിവേഴ്‌സിറ്റി ഓഫ് ടെക്‌സസില്‍ കമ്പ്യുട്ടര്‍ എഞ്ചിനിയറിംഗ് വിദ്യാര്‍ഥിയായ സ്റ്റാന്‍ലി സ്പ്രിംഗ് അവധി പ്രമാണിച്ച് വീട്ടിലേക്കു വരുന്ന വഴി സുഹ്രുത്തിന്റെ വീട്ടില്‍ കയറിയ ശേഷം ഇറങ്ങി വരുമ്പോഴാണുസംഭവം. അക്രമി സംഘം തോക്കു ചൂണ്ടി സ്റ്റാന്‍ലിയെ കാറില്‍ നിന്നിറക്കി. ഓടി രക്ഷപ്പെടാന്‍ നോക്കിയ സ്റ്റാന്‍ലിയെ വെടി വച്ച ശേഷം അക്രമികള്‍ അക്യുറ കാറുമായി കടന്നു. സ്റ്റാന്‍ലി സംഭവം നടന്ന സ്ഥലത്തു തന്നെ മരിച്ചു.
വൈകിട്ട് എട്ടരയോടെയാണു സംഭവം. വെസ്റ്റ് സാം ഹൂസ്റ്റണ്‍ പാര്‍ക്ക് വേയില്‍8500 ബ്ലോക്കിലെ അപ്പാര്‍ട്മന്റ് കോമ്പ്‌ളക്‌സിനു മുന്നിലാണു ആക്രമണം നടന്നത്.
ഒരു മണിക്കൂറിനു ശേഷം അക്രമികളില്‍ രണ്ടു പേര്‍ ഹൗസ് ഓഫ് പൈസ് റെസ്‌ടോറന്റില്‍ ചെന്നു മുകളിലേക്കു വെടി വച്ചു ഭീകരാന്തരീക്ഷം സ്രുഷ്ടിച്ച്അവിടെയുള്ളവരുടെ പണവവും ഫോണും മറ്റും മോഷ്ടിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
അക്രമികളിലൊരാളായ മാര്‍ക്ക്വിസ് ഡേവിസിനെ (19) പോലീസ് കയ്യോടെ അറസ്റ്റു ചെയ്തു. അയാള്‍ക്കെതിരെ കൊലക്കുറ്റം ചുമത്തിയതായി അസിസ്റ്റന്റ് ഡിസ്ട്രിക്ട് അറ്റോര്‍ണി പോള്‍ ഫോര്‍ടന്‍ബെറി അറിയിച്ചു. എന്നാല്‍ തന്റെ പുത്രന്‍ നിരപരാധിയയാണെന്നു മാര്‍ക്വിസിന്റെ പിതാവ് അവകാശപ്പെട്ടു. മര്‍ക്വിസിന്റെ സുഹ്രുത്താണു വെടി വച്ചതെന്നും അയാള്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. റെസ്റ്റോറന്റില്‍ കൊണ്ടു പോയി നിര്‍ബന്ധിച്ചുമാര്‍ക്വിസിനെക്കൊണ്ടു വെടി വയ്പ്പിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു എന്നും അയാള്‍ അവകാശപ്പെട്ടു. Charges have been filed against a suspect in the violent robbery at a southwest Houston restaurant last week. Investigators believe the same suspect is also behind a murder the same day.

Marquis Davis, 19, is charged with capital murder and aggravated robbery. It started at about 8:30pm Thursday, when investigators say Davis was involved in the fatal shooting of Stanly Kumbanattel, 30, at an apartment complex in the 8500 block of the West Sam Houston Parkway. The victim was shot multiple times and his vehicle -- an Acura -- was stolen.

"I can't comprehend the situation," said his father, Babu Kumbanattel. "It's really sad. The only thing I know about my son, they wanted his car."

Family members say Stanly was driving home from school in Dallas when he stopped at the apartment complex to visit a friend where the alleged carjacking happened. He never made it home.

Then, later that evening, two men -- one of whom police say is Davis -- went into a busy House of Pies restaurant on Westheimer and Briar Ridge, firing shots into the roof of the restaurant and robbing customers.

"They then took ... that vehicle, which was an Acura, to the House of Pies and at the House of Pies committed an aggravated robbery where this defendant went in, demanded money, amongst other things, and fired his weapon," explained assistant district attorney Paul Fortenberry.

Police officers were able to arrest Davis shortly after the robbery, though they are still looking for a second suspect. It wasn't immediately clear that the robbery was linked to the murder just hours before.

As for Stanly's family, they said they came to America so their children could live the American dream. Born and raised in Houston, Stanly was, by all accounts, living a fulfilling life that tragically ended the day before his 31st birthday.
