One man drowned on Sunday, April 17, after he and another man jumped from a boat into a Dallas-Fort Worth area lake, officials say. Dallas Fire-Rescue officials were dispatched around 9:50 p.m. for a water rescue on Lake Ray Hubbard. The two men were reportedly on a boat with two women and a dog, and they jumped in for undetermined reasons when their boat stalled. One man’s body resurfaced on its own, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The other man was pulled out of the lake and was taken to a hospital after first responders performed CPR on him, fire department officials said.

Neither of the men was wearing a flotation device, according to the fire department. Their identities have not been disclosed.

A witness reported seeing a man not wearing a life jacket swim near the beach area of the lake and not resurface. Divers recovered the man’s body, according to the fire department. His identity has not been released. “As the lake season approaches, GPFD strongly encourages the public to wear a life vest or an appropriate personal floating device while near the water,” the fire department said.
