റപ്പായിമാപ്പിളയുടെ വിളി (കഥ: സുധീര്‍ പണിക്കവീട്ടില്‍)

ഞാന്‍ റപ്പായിണ്, നീ ആരാന്റ..?
ഫോണ്‍ എടുത്തപ്പോള്‍ ഞാന്‍കേട്ടത് അങ്ങനെയാണു്. എന്താ മറുപടിപറയാമെന്ന് ആലോചിച്ച് കുഴഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ അയാള്‍ വീണ്ടും ഒരു ചിരിയോടെ പറയാന്‍തുടങ്ങി. നിന്റെ ഫോണിലേക്ക് വിളിച്ച് നീ ആരാണെന്ന് ചോദിക്കുന്ന ഞാന്‍ ആരാണെന്നല്ലേ നീ ഇപ്പോള്‍ ആലോചിക്കുന്നത്. നിന്റെ ഫോണില്‍ നീയല്ലതെവേറെ ആര്‍ ഫോണ്‍ എടുക്കാന്‍, അപ്പോള്‍ പിന്നെ നീ ആരാന്റാ.എന്ന ചോദ്യം അപ്രസക്തം. തന്നെയുമല്ല ഇത്ര ആധികാരികമായി നീ എന്നൊക്കെ ഞാന്‍ എങ്ങനെ വിളിക്കുന്നു അതൊക്കെയല്ലേ മോനെനിന്റെ തലയില്‍ കിടന്ന് ഓടുന്നത്. നിന്റെ ഫോണില്‍ നീയല്ലാതെ നിന്റെവീട്ടിലുള്ളവരും ഫോണ്‍ എടുക്കുമല്ലോ.ഞാന്‍ നേരേ കാര്യത്തിലേക്ക് വരാം.നിന്നെ എന്റെ മകനുപരിചയമുണ്ട്.നിനക്ക് അവന്റെ പ്രായമേയുള്ളു അത്‌കൊണ്ടാണ് ് ഞാന്‍ നീ എന്നൊക്കെ വിളിക്കുന്നത്. നീ വലിയ സാഹിത്യകാരനാണ്്, ആളുകള്‍ എഴുതുന്നതിനെ കുറിച്ച് നിന്റെ അഭിപ്രായം എഴുതും എന്നൊക്കെ അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.
അയാള്‍ പറഞ്ഞ്‌കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നതിന്റെ ഇടയില്‍ കയറി ഞാന്‍ചോദിച്ചു. എന്താണു നിങ്ങളുടെ മകന്റെ പേര്.
മകന്റെ പേരൊന്നും പറഞ്ഞിട്ട് വിശേഷമില്ല. അവനെനീയറിയില്ല.നിന്നെ അവനും അറിയില്ല. നിന്റെ പേരുമാത്രമേ അവനു നിശ്ചയമുള്ളു.നീദൈവത്തെ പോലെ എല്ലായിടത്തുമുണ്ട് എന്നാല്‍ ആര്‍ക്കും കാണാന്‍ പറ്റില്ലാത്രെ.അത് എന്തെങ്കിലുമായി കൊള്ളട്ടെ. ഞാന്‍ വിളിച്ചത് എനിക്ക് ഒരു കഥ എഴുതണം. അതിനു നീ സഹായിക്കണം.
കഥ എഴുതാന്‍ ആരെയെങ്കിലും സമീപിക്കുന്നത് എന്തിനാണ്. കഴിവുണ്ടെങ്കില്‍ എഴുതുക.എനിക്ക് സഹായമൊന്നും ചെയ്യാന്‍ പറ്റില്ല.പിന്നെ കാശ്‌കൊടുത്ത് എഴുതിക്കുന്നവര്‍ ഉണ്ടെന്ന് കേള്‍ക്കുന്നു.അങ്ങനെയുള്ളവരുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെടുക. വിവരങ്ങള്‍ അവര്‍ പറയും.
ഞാന്‍ അമേരിക്കയില്‍ ഒരു സന്ദര്‍ശനത്തിനു എത്തിയതാണ്. തൃശ്ശൂരാണ് ഇമ്മടെ വീട്. ഞാന്‍ പഠിക്കുന്ന കാലത്ത് ആ തിരുവല്വമലകാരന്‍ നായരുട്ടിയുടെ കഥകള്‍ വായിക്കാറുണ്ട്. അതിലെ ഇട്ടൂപ്പ് മുതലാളി വകയില്‍ എന്റെ വല്യപ്പച്ചനായിവരും.ഇത്രയുമാണു സാഹിത്യവുമായി എന്റെ ബന്ധം.പിന്നെ ഞാനൊരു പഴയ ബിരുദധാരിയാണു്.എനിക്ക് അതില്‍ താല്‍പ്പര്യമൊന്നുമില്ലായിരുന്നു. ബിസിനസ്സ്‌കൊണ്ടു നടക്കാന്‍ അപ്പന്‍ എന്നെപഠിപ്പിച്ചു.ഞാന്‍ പഠിച്ചു.അത്രതന്നെ. ഇവിടെ അമേരിക്കയില്‍ വന്നപ്പോള്‍ കണ്ടുമുട്ടിയവരെല്ലാം എഴുത്തുകാര്‍. എന്തിനു എന്റെപ്രായമുള്ള ഒരു അപ്പാപ്പന്‍ അയാളുടെ മകളെ സന്ദര്‍ശിക്കാന്‍വന്ന് ഇവിടെ ഏതൊ സമാജക്കാര്‍ സംഘടിപ്പിച്ച കഥാമത്സരത്തില്‍പങ്കെടുത്ത് സമ്മാനം വേടിച്ചുവത്രെ. ചേരയെതിന്നുന്നനാട്ടില്‍ ചെന്നാല്‍ ചേരയുടെ നടുനുറുക്ക്തിന്നണമെന്നാണു. ഞാനായിട്ട് ആ നടുനുറുക്ക് എന്തിനു കളയണം.
ഞാന്‍ നിങ്ങളെ ത്രുശ്ശൂര്‍സ്റ്റയിലില്‍ റപ്പായിചേട്ടാ എന്നുവിളിക്കാം. ഒരു എഴുത്തുകാരന്‍ ആകാന്‍ പോകുന്നനിങ്ങളെ അങ്കിള്‍ എന്നൊക്കെവിളിച്ച് വയസ്സനാക്കുന്നില്ല. ഇവിടെ എഴുത്തുകാര്‍ ഒരു വ്രുതം പോലെ അവരുടെ യൗവ്വനകാലത്തെപടമാണു കൊടുക്കാറു്. റപ്പായിചേട്ടന്‍ചെറുപ്പകാലത്തെ ഒരു പടം ആദ്യം തന്നെ സംഘടിപ്പിക്കണം.
ഇവിടെ അമേരിക്കയില്‍ മലയാളികള്‍ എല്ലാം എഴുത്തുകാരാണു്. ഏകദേശം ഇരുനൂറോളം എഴുത്തുകാരും ഏഴുവായനകാരുമാണിവിടെയുള്ളത്. ഇത് എന്റെ ഒരു കണക്ക് കൂട്ടലാണു. കൂടുതലേ കാണു, ആരു? എഴുത്തുകാര്‍.വായനകാരുടെ എണ്ണം കുറയാനും മതി.അത്‌കൊണ്ട് ആര്‍ക്കും ധൈര്യമായി എഴുതാം.ഒരു പക്ഷെ എഴുത്തുകാരുടെ ജനസംഖ്യപെരുപ്പത്തിനു കാരണം തന്നെവായനകാരില്ലാത്തത്‌കൊണ്ടാണെന്ന് നിസ്സംശയം പറയാം.വായനകാരുണ്ടെങ്കില്‍ വിവരമറിയും.വായിക്കുന്നവര്‍ ആകെ ഏഴെണ്ണം.പിന്നെ എഴുത്തുകാര്‍ അവര്‍, അവര്‍ എഴുതിയത്മാത്രെമേ വായിക്കൂ.റപ്പായിചേട്ടന്‍ഏതെങ്കിലും കഥ തട്ടികൊടുക്കു. പിന്നെ ഇവിടെ വേറെ ഒരു ഗുണവുമുണ്ട്.ഒത്തിരി പബ്ലിക്കേഷന്‍സ് ഉണ്ട്. അതിലൊക്കെ ഒരേ സമയം ഒരു കഥ തന്നെപ്രസിദ്ധപ്പെടുത്താം.
ഞാന്‍ ഇപ്പോള്‍ എന്ത് കഥയെഴുതാന്‍. ഞാന്‍ മുമ്പ്പറഞ്ഞില്ലെപയ്യന്‍സ് കഥകളിലെ ഇട്ടുപ്പ്മുതലാളി വകയില്‍ എന്റെ വല്ല്യപ്പച്ചനാകുമെന്ന്. അങ്ങേരുടെ വീരസാഹസ കഥകള്‍ മതിയോ. അതായ്ത് ആ നായരുട്ടി (മഹാനായ വി.കെ.എന്‍.) എഴുതിയതില്‍ കവിഞ്ഞ് എനിക്ക് ചില കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ അറിയാം. പിന്നെ മഹാനായ എഴുത്തുകാരനെ നായരൂട്ടിയെന്നൊക്കെ വിളിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ നീ ഒന്നും ധരിക്കരുത്. അത് ഇമ്മളു ത്രുശ്ശൂര്‍കാരുടെ ഒരു സമ്പ്രദായമല്ലേ? ബഹുമാനമില്ലാത്തത്‌കൊണ്ടൊന്നുമല്ല.
വായിച്ചാല്‍ മനസ്സിലാകാത്ത കഥകള്‍ക്കാണു് ഇപ്പോള്‍ മാര്‍ക്കറ്റ്.റപ്പായിചേട്ടന്‍ അങ്ങനെയൊന്ന് ചിന്തിക്കൂ. നല്ല കഥകളൊക്കെ എഴുത്തുകാരെ കാണുമ്പോള്‍ ഓടി പോകുന്നു, കാരണം കഥക്കറിയാം ഒരു കഥയുമില്ലാത്തവരാണു എഴുതാന്‍ ഇരിക്കുന്നതെന്ന്. അത്‌കൊണ്ട് എഴുത്തുകാര്‍ ശ്രമില്ലാല്‍ തന്നെനല്ല കഥകള്‍ ഉണ്ടാകാന്‍ പോകുന്നില്ല. റപ്പായിചേട്ടന്‍ ത്രുശ്ശൂര്‍ കാരുടെ പേരു കളയാന്‍ വേണ്ടി ഒന്നുമെഴുതരുത്. മുണ്ടശ്ശേരിമാഷ് വായില്‍മുറുക്കാനുമായി ചിലപ്പോള്‍ കുഴിമാടത്തില്‍നിന്നും ഏണീറ്റ്‌വരും.അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഒരു വത്സലശിഷ്യന്‍ ഇവിടെയുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. എനിക്ക് ഒത്തിരി ഇഷ്ടമായിരുന്നു.അദ്ദേഹം ഇയ്യിടെ അന്തരില്ലു.അദ്ദേഹം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നെങ്കില്‍ഞാന്‍ റപ്പായിചേട്ട്രന്റെ കാര്യം അദ്ദേഹത്തോട് പറഞ്ഞേനെ.അദ്ദേഹം ഉണ്ടാക്കിയവിടവ് നികത്താന്‍പറ്റുമെന്ന്‌തോന്നുന്നില്ല.റപ്പായിചേട്ടന്റെ കഥാകാരന്‍ ആകാനുള്ള ആഗ്രഹത്തെക്കുറില്ല് അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്പറഞ്ഞാല്‍കേള്‍ക്കുന്ന കമന്റു ബഹുരസമായിരിക്കും. വയസ്സാന്‍ കാലത്ത്‌വേറെപണിയൊന്നുമില്ലേ എന്നൊക്കെചോദിക്കും.എന്തായാലും റപ്പായിചേട്ടന്‍രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടു.
ഡാ മോനെനീയ്യൊരു കാര്യം മനസ്സിലാക്കണം.കാശ് കാര്‍ന്നോന്മാരായി ഇശ്ശി ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിരുന്നു.സ്വരാജ് റൗണ്ടില്‍ നാലു്ബില്‍ഡിംഗ്. സ്വര്‍ണ്ണത്തിന്റെ ഹോല്‍സെയില്‍ ബിസിനസ്സ്. ത്രുശ്ശൂര്‍ കൊടുങ്ങല്ലൂര്‍ റൂട്ടിലോടുന്ന അമ്പതോളം ബസ്സുകള്‍. ഒക്കെ വിറ്റുകളഞ്ഞു. ആകെയുള്ള മോന്‍പഠിച്ച് ഡോകറരായ്‌പ്പോള്‍ അവനു അമേരിക്കക്ക്‌വരണം.പിന്നെ എന്താ ചെയ്യാ..എനിക്കും വെറോണിക്കയ്ക്കും എന്തിനു ഇത്രപെരുത്ത് സ്വത്ത്.സംഗതി അതല്ല. എനിക്കിപ്പോള്‍ ഒരു കഥയെഴുതണം.റപ്പായിചേട്ടന്‍ തന്റെ പല്ലവിതുടര്‍ന്നു.
റപ്പായിചേട്ടാ.. കഥയില്ലായ്മയാണൂ ഏറ്റവും നല്ല കഥ. റപ്പായി ചേട്ടന്‍ പറഞ്ഞ്‌കൊണ്ടേയിരിക്കു, ചിലപ്പോള്‍ അത് ഒരു കഥയാകും.ഞാന്‍ ചില സംശയങ്ങള്‍ ചോദിക്കാം. അതിനു ശരിയായ മറുപടിപറയണം.

റപ്പായിചേട്ടന്‍ ഒരു കഥാക്രുത്ത് ആകാന്‍ വേണ്ടി ആദ്യം ചിന്തിച്ചത് എന്താണ്. എഴുതാന്‍തോന്നിയത് അമേരിക്കയില്‍ വന്നപ്പോള്‍ എന്ന്പറഞ്ഞത്‌കൊണ്ടാണു് ഇങ്ങനെചോദിക്കാന്‍ കാരണം.
അതിപ്പോള്‍ ഞാന്‍ നിന്നോട് സത്യം പറയാം.ആദ്യമായി ഞാന്‍ എന്റെ പേരു എങ്ങനെ കൊടുക്കുമെന്നാണു ചിന്തിച്ചത്. ഇവിടെയുള്ള എഴുത്തുകാരുടെ ആകര്‍ഷണീയമായ പേരുകള്‍ എന്നെ സ്വാധീനിച്ചു. വീട്ടുപേരു, നാടുപേരു, ഓമനപേരു, അപ്പന്റെ പേരു അതൊക്കെസ്വന്തം പേരിനോട്‌ചേര്‍ത്ത് ഗംഭീരമായിരിക്കുന്നു.തൂലിക നാമക്കാരെ അധികം കണ്ടില്ല.ഞാന്‍ ഇടയില്‍ കയറി പറഞ്ഞു.തൂലികനാമം കമന്റുകള്‍ എഴുതാന്‍മാത്രമേ ഉപയോഗിക്കൂ.സ്വന്തം പേരുവല്ല് എഴുതാന്‍ ചങ്കൂറ്റമില്ല. ശരി റപ്പായി ചേട്ടന്‍ എങ്ങനെയയാണു പേരുകൊടുക്കാന്‍ നിശ്ചയില്ലിരിക്കുന്നത്.
അത് ഞാന്‍ വെറോണിക്കയുമായി ആലോചിച്ചു.അവള്‍ക്കിതിലൊന്നും താല്‍പ്പര്യമില്ല. അവള്‍ മകന്റെയും, മരുമകളുടേയും, പേരക്കിടാങ്ങളുടെയും കാര്യങ്ങളാണുചോദിക്കുക. എന്റെ എഴുത്തിന്റെ മോഹം പറഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ അവള്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. അവുധി കഴിഞ്ഞ്‌നാട്ടിലെത്തുമ്പോള്‍ എന്നെ വൈദ്യന്‍ വരാപ്പുഴയുടെ (മാനസിക രോഗികളെ ശുശ്രൂഷിക്കുന്ന വൈദ്യന്‍) അടുത്ത്‌കൊണ്ടുപോകാമെന്ന്. ഇതല്ല കാര്യുമെങ്കില്‍ ഞാന്‍ "എടി പോത്തേ എന്നുവിളിച്ചേനെ.. ആവശ്യം എന്റെയല്ലേ ഞാന്‍ അവളോട് വളരെ സ്‌നേഹമായി പറഞ്ഞു. കഥയെഴുതിയത് കെ.എഫ്. റാഫേല്‍ എന്ന് കണ്ടാല്‍ അതിനു ഒരു ഗമയില്ല. കെ.എഫ്. എന്നുവല്ലാല്‍ കാഞ്ഞാണികാരന്‍ ഫ്രാന്‍സീസ്.പിന്നെ നമ്മുടെ പേരു റാഫേല്‍ എന്നാണു വീട്ടുകാരും നാട്ടുകാരും വിളിക്കുന്നപേരാണു്‌റപ്പായി. ഞാന്‍ കഥയ്ക്ക്‌വേണ്ടി എന്റെപേരു "റപ്പായി കാഞ്ഞാണിക്കാരന്‍' എന്നാക്കി. എങ്ങനെയുണ്ട്? വെറോണിക്ക പറഞ്ഞു എന്തെങ്കിലും ചെയ്യ്, മോന്റെ പേരു കളയരുത്.
ഇനി റപ്പായിചേട്ടന്‍ കണ്ടുമുട്ടിയ അമേരിക്കന്‍ മലയാളികളെകുറിച്ച് എന്തെങ്കിലും...?
അതിപ്പോള്‍ എനിക്കധികമാരുമായി സമ്പര്‍ക്കമില്ല. മകന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാരൊക്കെ ഡോക്ടര്‍മാരും, എന്‍ജിനീയര്‍മാരുമൊക്കയാണ്. അവനോ അവന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാര്‍ക്കോ മലയാളഭാഷയെന്ന ചിന്തയില്ല. അവരോടൊന്നും ഞാന്‍ സംസാരിക്കാറെ ഇല്ല.ഒരു ഹല്ലൊ മാത്രം.പിന്നെ മകന്റെ അയല്‍പക്കം ഒരു പാപ്പച്ചനാണു്.മൂപ്പര്‍ക്ക് ഇവിടെ വന്ന് നല്ല ജോലിയൊന്നും കിട്ടിയില്ല. അതിന്റെ ദ്വേഷ്യമുണ്ട്. ഒരിക്കല്‍ ഞാന്‍ അവനോട്‌ചോദിച്ചു, നീ എന്തു പഠിച്ചുവെന്ന്,. അവന്റെ മറുപടിയ്ക്ക് മറുപടിയായി ഞാന്‍ ത്രുശ്ശൂര്‍കാരന്റെ നിഷ്കളങ്കതയോടെ പറഞ്ഞു. പഠിപ്പ് ഇത്രയല്ലേയുള്ളു, പിന്നെ നല്ല ജോലി എങ്ങനെ കിട്ടാന്‍. അത് അങ്ങേര്‍ക്ക് ഇഷ്ടമായില്ല. No grass will walk here എന്നും പറഞ്ഞ് ആള്‍ വീട്ടിനുള്ളിലേക്ക് ഓടികയറി. ബഹളം കേട്ട് അവന്റെ ഭാര്യമേരിക്കുട്ടി പുറത്ത്‌വന്നു. ഞാന്‍ അവളോട് ചോദില്ലു. എന്താ മോളെ അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞതിന്റെ അര്‍ത്ഥമെന്ന്. അപ്പോള്‍ അവള്‍ പറയാം, ഇവിടെ ഒരു പുല്ലും നടക്കില്ലെന്നു..അതൊക്കെ അച്ചായന്റെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷാണെന്ന്. അച്ചായനു ഇംല്ലീഷ് അറിയാത്തതില്‍വളരെ അപകര്‍ഷതാബോധമുണ്ട്. എന്നുവെച്ച് മിണ്ടാതെയിരിക്കയൊന്നുമില്ല. തോന്നുന്നപോലെപറയും. ഇങ്ങനെ ഞങ്ങള്‍ സംസാരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ അടുത്ത്‌വീട്ടിലെ സായ്പ്പ് വസ്ര്തക്ഷാമ സൂചകമായി പേരിനു ധരിച്ച തുണിയുമായി അയാാളുടെ ബേക്കുയാര്‍ഡില്‍ കറങ്ങുന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അപ്പോള്‍ മേരിക്കുട്ടിപറഞ്ഞു. ആ സായിപ്പിനോട് പാപ്പച്ചന്‍വഴക്ക് കൂടി അവസാനം അയളോട് : : I have no ginger : അത്‌കേട്ട്‌സായ്പ്പ് പറഞ്ഞു...Neither do I have, if you want it, go to Indian Store. അങ്ങനെ അവര്‍ വാക്ക്തര്‍ക്ക്മായി അവസാനം ഞാന്‍ ഇടപ്പെട്ടു വഴക്കവസാനിപ്പിച്ചു.അച്ചായന്‍പറഞ്ഞതിന്റെ അര്‍ത്ഥം." എനിക്ക് ഒരു ചുക്കുമില്ലെന്നാണ്. പാവം സായ്പ്പ് ധരില്ലു അച്ചായനു ഇഞ്ചിവേണമെന്ന്.അച്ചായന്‍ ഇഞ്ചി കടിച്ച കുരങ്ങനെപോലെ ലജ്ജിച്ച് തല താഴ്ത്തിവീട്ടിനുള്ളില്‍ കയറി.അച്ചായന്‍ അതില്‍ പിന്നെസായിപ്പിനോട് മിണ്ടുകയില്ല.
എനിക്കത് ബഹുരസമായിതോന്നി. ഞാന്‍ അത് എന്റെ മരുമകളോട് പറഞ്ഞു. പറഞ്ഞാല്‍ ആരും വിശ്വസിക്കില്ല എന്റെ മകനേക്കാള്‍ എന്റെ മരുമകള്‍ക്കാണു എന്നോടിഷ്ടം. അവളുടെ അപ്പന്‍ കോടീശ്വരനാണു് എന്നിട്ടും ആ പെണ്‍ക്കുട്ടിയ്ക്ക് ഒരു കേമത്തരവുമില്ല. അവളെ പെണ്ണു കാണാന്‍ ചെന്നപ്പോള്‍് ഞാന്‍ കാറില്‍നിന്നിറങ്ങിയത് കണ്ടിട്ട് അവള്‍ വിചാരിച്ചുവത്രെ ഞാനാണു മണവാളന്‍ എന്ന്. അപ്പന്റെ ജുബ്ബയും സ്വര്‍ണ്ണമാലയും നിറവും എല്ലാം കൂടിപ്രായമേ തോന്നുകയില്ലെന്ന് അവള്‍ വെറോണിക്കയോട് പറഞ്ഞ് ചിരിക്കാറുണ്ട്.

അതിപ്പോള്‍ ഇമ്മളു ത്രുശ്ശൂര്‍ക്കാരു കാത്തോലിക്കരു തോമശ്ശീഹ മാമോദീസ്മുക്കിയവരാണു്. കേരളത്തിലെക്രുസ്താനികളൊക്കെ നമ്പൂരി മാര്‍ക്കം കൂടിയെന്ന്പറയും. എന്നാല്‍ ത്രുശ്ശൂരുള്ളവരാണു ശരിയ്ക്കും നമ്പൂരി മാര്‍ക്കം കൂടിയവര്‍.നിനക്ക്‌വിശ്വാസമാകാന്‍ ഞാന്‍ ഒരു കാര്യം പറയാം.ഞങ്ങളെ എന്തുകൊണ്ട്"കാഞ്ഞാണികാരന്‍'' എന്നുവിളിക്കുന്നു. ഞങ്ങളുടെ കുടുംബത്തിലെ ഒരു നമ്പൂതിരിയക്ഷികളെ തലയില്‍ ആണിയടിച്ച് ആവാഹിച്ച് കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരുന്നു. മന്ത്രങ്ങള്‍ ചൊല്ലി യക്ഷിയുടെ തലയില്‍ അടിക്കാനുള്ള ആണിചൂടാക്കിയെടുക്കും. അങ്ങനെ കര്‍മ്മംചെയ്യുന്ന നമ്പൂതിരി ശിഷ്യനോട്പറയും" ആ കാഞ്ഞ ആണി എടുക്കടാ..' അങ്ങനെ കാഞ്ഞാണി എടുത്തുപയോഗിക്കുന്ന നമ്പൂതിരിയെ കാഞ്ഞാണികാരന്‍ എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞ്തുടങ്ങി. ഒരു ദിവസം എന്റെ വലിയവലിയ അപ്പൂപ്പന്‍ യക്ഷിയെ തലയില്‍ ആണിയടിച്ച് കൊണ്ട്‌വരുമ്പൊള്‍ തോമശ്ശീഹ മുന്നില്‍.തോമശ്ശീഹ ആ പാതിരയ്ക്ക് വഴിതെറ്റി നടക്കയായിരുന്നു. എന്റെ അപ്പൂപ്പന്‍ മൂപ്പരെ കൂടെ കൂട്ടി. അദ്ദ്യം തോമശ്ശീഹയാണെന്നെന്നു മറിഞ്ഞില്ല. ഇല്ലത്തേയ്ക്ക്‌കൊണ്ട്‌പോയി. അത്താഴം കൊടുത്തു.ഞങ്ങളുടെ വല്ല്യ അമ്മാമ്മ മാങ്ങയും നാളികേരവും കൂട്ടി ഒരു ചമ്മന്തി അരച്ചത് തോമശ്ശീഹായക്ക് ഭയങ്കര ഇഷ്ടമായി. വല്ല്യാമ്മൂമ്മയുടെ മുട്ടോളമെത്തുന്ന വളകളുടെ കിലുകിലാരവത്തോടെ അടുക്കളയില്‍നിന്നും വിളമ്പികൊടുത്തയച്ച അത്താഴം കഴിച്ച് തോമശ്ശീഹ അന്ന് ആ വീട്ടിലുള്ളവരെയെല്ലാംഉപദേശില്ലു. യേശുനാഥന്റെവഴികളിലൂടെ നടക്കണമെന്ന്‌നിര്‍ദ്ദേശില്ലു. അവരെയൊക്കെ ജ്ഞാനസ്‌നാനം ചെയ്യിച്ചു. അന്നുമുതല്‍ എന്റെ വല്ല്യപ്പൂപ്പന്‍ തോമസ്സായി, വല്ല്യാമ്മൂമ്മ മറിയയായി. അതൊക്കെ ഒരു കഥ.തോമാശ്ശീഹ അന്തിയുറങ്ങിയ തറവാട് എന്ന്പറയാന്‍ ഞങ്ങളെപോലെ ചുരുക്കം പേരെയുള്ളു. ഇപ്പോള്‍ എല്ലാവരും തോമശ്ശീഹ അന്തിയുറങ്ങിയ തറവാട്ടിലെ എന്ന് അവകാശപ്പെടുന്നു. വല്ല്യ അമ്മൂമ്മയുടെ മാങ്ങ ചമ്മന്തി തോമശ്ശീഹ പോയവീടുകളിലൊക്കെ ചോദിച്ചുവത്രെ. ഞങ്ങള്‍ ഇപ്പോഴും തോമാശ്ശീഹയുടെ ഓര്‍മ്മദിവസം മാങ്ങ ചമ്മന്തിയുണ്ടാക്കുന്നു.

ഫോണ്‍ എടുത്തപ്പോള്‍ ഞാന്‍കേട്ടത് അങ്ങനെയാണു്. എന്താ മറുപടിപറയാമെന്ന് ആലോചിച്ച് കുഴഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ അയാള്‍ വീണ്ടും ഒരു ചിരിയോടെ പറയാന്‍തുടങ്ങി. നിന്റെ ഫോണിലേക്ക് വിളിച്ച് നീ ആരാണെന്ന് ചോദിക്കുന്ന ഞാന്‍ ആരാണെന്നല്ലേ നീ ഇപ്പോള്‍ ആലോചിക്കുന്നത്. നിന്റെ ഫോണില്‍ നീയല്ലതെവേറെ ആര്‍ ഫോണ്‍ എടുക്കാന്‍, അപ്പോള്‍ പിന്നെ നീ ആരാന്റാ.എന്ന ചോദ്യം അപ്രസക്തം. തന്നെയുമല്ല ഇത്ര ആധികാരികമായി നീ എന്നൊക്കെ ഞാന്‍ എങ്ങനെ വിളിക്കുന്നു അതൊക്കെയല്ലേ മോനെനിന്റെ തലയില്‍ കിടന്ന് ഓടുന്നത്. നിന്റെ ഫോണില്‍ നീയല്ലാതെ നിന്റെവീട്ടിലുള്ളവരും ഫോണ്‍ എടുക്കുമല്ലോ.ഞാന്‍ നേരേ കാര്യത്തിലേക്ക് വരാം.നിന്നെ എന്റെ മകനുപരിചയമുണ്ട്.നിനക്ക് അവന്റെ പ്രായമേയുള്ളു അത്‌കൊണ്ടാണ് ് ഞാന്‍ നീ എന്നൊക്കെ വിളിക്കുന്നത്. നീ വലിയ സാഹിത്യകാരനാണ്്, ആളുകള്‍ എഴുതുന്നതിനെ കുറിച്ച് നിന്റെ അഭിപ്രായം എഴുതും എന്നൊക്കെ അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.
അയാള്‍ പറഞ്ഞ്‌കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നതിന്റെ ഇടയില്‍ കയറി ഞാന്‍ചോദിച്ചു. എന്താണു നിങ്ങളുടെ മകന്റെ പേര്.
മകന്റെ പേരൊന്നും പറഞ്ഞിട്ട് വിശേഷമില്ല. അവനെനീയറിയില്ല.നിന്നെ അവനും അറിയില്ല. നിന്റെ പേരുമാത്രമേ അവനു നിശ്ചയമുള്ളു.നീദൈവത്തെ പോലെ എല്ലായിടത്തുമുണ്ട് എന്നാല്‍ ആര്‍ക്കും കാണാന്‍ പറ്റില്ലാത്രെ.അത് എന്തെങ്കിലുമായി കൊള്ളട്ടെ. ഞാന്‍ വിളിച്ചത് എനിക്ക് ഒരു കഥ എഴുതണം. അതിനു നീ സഹായിക്കണം.
കഥ എഴുതാന്‍ ആരെയെങ്കിലും സമീപിക്കുന്നത് എന്തിനാണ്. കഴിവുണ്ടെങ്കില്‍ എഴുതുക.എനിക്ക് സഹായമൊന്നും ചെയ്യാന്‍ പറ്റില്ല.പിന്നെ കാശ്‌കൊടുത്ത് എഴുതിക്കുന്നവര്‍ ഉണ്ടെന്ന് കേള്‍ക്കുന്നു.അങ്ങനെയുള്ളവരുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെടുക. വിവരങ്ങള്‍ അവര്‍ പറയും.
ഞാന്‍ അമേരിക്കയില്‍ ഒരു സന്ദര്‍ശനത്തിനു എത്തിയതാണ്. തൃശ്ശൂരാണ് ഇമ്മടെ വീട്. ഞാന്‍ പഠിക്കുന്ന കാലത്ത് ആ തിരുവല്വമലകാരന്‍ നായരുട്ടിയുടെ കഥകള്‍ വായിക്കാറുണ്ട്. അതിലെ ഇട്ടൂപ്പ് മുതലാളി വകയില്‍ എന്റെ വല്യപ്പച്ചനായിവരും.ഇത്രയുമാണു സാഹിത്യവുമായി എന്റെ ബന്ധം.പിന്നെ ഞാനൊരു പഴയ ബിരുദധാരിയാണു്.എനിക്ക് അതില്‍ താല്‍പ്പര്യമൊന്നുമില്ലായിരുന്നു. ബിസിനസ്സ്‌കൊണ്ടു നടക്കാന്‍ അപ്പന്‍ എന്നെപഠിപ്പിച്ചു.ഞാന്‍ പഠിച്ചു.അത്രതന്നെ. ഇവിടെ അമേരിക്കയില്‍ വന്നപ്പോള്‍ കണ്ടുമുട്ടിയവരെല്ലാം എഴുത്തുകാര്‍. എന്തിനു എന്റെപ്രായമുള്ള ഒരു അപ്പാപ്പന്‍ അയാളുടെ മകളെ സന്ദര്‍ശിക്കാന്‍വന്ന് ഇവിടെ ഏതൊ സമാജക്കാര്‍ സംഘടിപ്പിച്ച കഥാമത്സരത്തില്‍പങ്കെടുത്ത് സമ്മാനം വേടിച്ചുവത്രെ. ചേരയെതിന്നുന്നനാട്ടില്‍ ചെന്നാല്‍ ചേരയുടെ നടുനുറുക്ക്തിന്നണമെന്നാണു. ഞാനായിട്ട് ആ നടുനുറുക്ക് എന്തിനു കളയണം.

റപ്പായിചേട്ടാ.. കഥയില്ലായ്മയാണൂ ഏറ്റവും നല്ല കഥ. റപ്പായി ചേട്ടന്‍ പറഞ്ഞ്‌കൊണ്ടേയിരിക്കു, ചിലപ്പോള്‍ അത് ഒരു കഥയാകും.ഞാന്‍ ചില സംശയങ്ങള്‍ ചോദിക്കാം. അതിനു ശരിയായ മറുപടിപറയണം.

റപ്പായിചേട്ടന്‍ ഒരു കഥാക്രുത്ത് ആകാന്‍ വേണ്ടി ആദ്യം ചിന്തിച്ചത് എന്താണ്. എഴുതാന്‍തോന്നിയത് അമേരിക്കയില്‍ വന്നപ്പോള്‍ എന്ന്പറഞ്ഞത്‌കൊണ്ടാണു് ഇങ്ങനെചോദിക്കാന്‍ കാരണം.
അതിപ്പോള്‍ ഞാന്‍ നിന്നോട് സത്യം പറയാം.ആദ്യമായി ഞാന്‍ എന്റെ പേരു എങ്ങനെ കൊടുക്കുമെന്നാണു ചിന്തിച്ചത്. ഇവിടെയുള്ള എഴുത്തുകാരുടെ ആകര്‍ഷണീയമായ പേരുകള്‍ എന്നെ സ്വാധീനിച്ചു. വീട്ടുപേരു, നാടുപേരു, ഓമനപേരു, അപ്പന്റെ പേരു അതൊക്കെസ്വന്തം പേരിനോട്‌ചേര്‍ത്ത് ഗംഭീരമായിരിക്കുന്നു.തൂലിക നാമക്കാരെ അധികം കണ്ടില്ല.ഞാന്‍ ഇടയില്‍ കയറി പറഞ്ഞു.തൂലികനാമം കമന്റുകള്‍ എഴുതാന്‍മാത്രമേ ഉപയോഗിക്കൂ.സ്വന്തം പേരുവല്ല് എഴുതാന്‍ ചങ്കൂറ്റമില്ല. ശരി റപ്പായി ചേട്ടന്‍ എങ്ങനെയയാണു പേരുകൊടുക്കാന്‍ നിശ്ചയില്ലിരിക്കുന്നത്.

അതിപ്പോള്‍ എനിക്കധികമാരുമായി സമ്പര്‍ക്കമില്ല. മകന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാരൊക്കെ ഡോക്ടര്‍മാരും, എന്‍ജിനീയര്‍മാരുമൊക്കയാണ്. അവനോ അവന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാര്‍ക്കോ മലയാളഭാഷയെന്ന ചിന്തയില്ല. അവരോടൊന്നും ഞാന്‍ സംസാരിക്കാറെ ഇല്ല.ഒരു ഹല്ലൊ മാത്രം.പിന്നെ മകന്റെ അയല്‍പക്കം ഒരു പാപ്പച്ചനാണു്.മൂപ്പര്‍ക്ക് ഇവിടെ വന്ന് നല്ല ജോലിയൊന്നും കിട്ടിയില്ല. അതിന്റെ ദ്വേഷ്യമുണ്ട്. ഒരിക്കല്‍ ഞാന്‍ അവനോട്‌ചോദിച്ചു, നീ എന്തു പഠിച്ചുവെന്ന്,. അവന്റെ മറുപടിയ്ക്ക് മറുപടിയായി ഞാന്‍ ത്രുശ്ശൂര്‍കാരന്റെ നിഷ്കളങ്കതയോടെ പറഞ്ഞു. പഠിപ്പ് ഇത്രയല്ലേയുള്ളു, പിന്നെ നല്ല ജോലി എങ്ങനെ കിട്ടാന്‍. അത് അങ്ങേര്‍ക്ക് ഇഷ്ടമായില്ല. No grass will walk here എന്നും പറഞ്ഞ് ആള്‍ വീട്ടിനുള്ളിലേക്ക് ഓടികയറി. ബഹളം കേട്ട് അവന്റെ ഭാര്യമേരിക്കുട്ടി പുറത്ത്‌വന്നു. ഞാന്‍ അവളോട് ചോദില്ലു. എന്താ മോളെ അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞതിന്റെ അര്‍ത്ഥമെന്ന്. അപ്പോള്‍ അവള്‍ പറയാം, ഇവിടെ ഒരു പുല്ലും നടക്കില്ലെന്നു..അതൊക്കെ അച്ചായന്റെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷാണെന്ന്. അച്ചായനു ഇംല്ലീഷ് അറിയാത്തതില്‍വളരെ അപകര്‍ഷതാബോധമുണ്ട്. എന്നുവെച്ച് മിണ്ടാതെയിരിക്കയൊന്നുമില്ല. തോന്നുന്നപോലെപറയും. ഇങ്ങനെ ഞങ്ങള്‍ സംസാരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ അടുത്ത്‌വീട്ടിലെ സായ്പ്പ് വസ്ര്തക്ഷാമ സൂചകമായി പേരിനു ധരിച്ച തുണിയുമായി അയാാളുടെ ബേക്കുയാര്‍ഡില്‍ കറങ്ങുന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അപ്പോള്‍ മേരിക്കുട്ടിപറഞ്ഞു. ആ സായിപ്പിനോട് പാപ്പച്ചന്‍വഴക്ക് കൂടി അവസാനം അയളോട് : : I have no ginger : അത്‌കേട്ട്‌സായ്പ്പ് പറഞ്ഞു...Neither do I have, if you want it, go to Indian Store. അങ്ങനെ അവര്‍ വാക്ക്തര്‍ക്ക്മായി അവസാനം ഞാന്‍ ഇടപ്പെട്ടു വഴക്കവസാനിപ്പിച്ചു.അച്ചായന്‍പറഞ്ഞതിന്റെ അര്‍ത്ഥം." എനിക്ക് ഒരു ചുക്കുമില്ലെന്നാണ്. പാവം സായ്പ്പ് ധരില്ലു അച്ചായനു ഇഞ്ചിവേണമെന്ന്.അച്ചായന്‍ ഇഞ്ചി കടിച്ച കുരങ്ങനെപോലെ ലജ്ജിച്ച് തല താഴ്ത്തിവീട്ടിനുള്ളില്‍ കയറി.അച്ചായന്‍ അതില്‍ പിന്നെസായിപ്പിനോട് മിണ്ടുകയില്ല.
എനിക്കത് ബഹുരസമായിതോന്നി. ഞാന്‍ അത് എന്റെ മരുമകളോട് പറഞ്ഞു. പറഞ്ഞാല്‍ ആരും വിശ്വസിക്കില്ല എന്റെ മകനേക്കാള്‍ എന്റെ മരുമകള്‍ക്കാണു എന്നോടിഷ്ടം. അവളുടെ അപ്പന്‍ കോടീശ്വരനാണു് എന്നിട്ടും ആ പെണ്‍ക്കുട്ടിയ്ക്ക് ഒരു കേമത്തരവുമില്ല. അവളെ പെണ്ണു കാണാന്‍ ചെന്നപ്പോള്‍് ഞാന്‍ കാറില്‍നിന്നിറങ്ങിയത് കണ്ടിട്ട് അവള്‍ വിചാരിച്ചുവത്രെ ഞാനാണു മണവാളന്‍ എന്ന്. അപ്പന്റെ ജുബ്ബയും സ്വര്‍ണ്ണമാലയും നിറവും എല്ലാം കൂടിപ്രായമേ തോന്നുകയില്ലെന്ന് അവള്‍ വെറോണിക്കയോട് പറഞ്ഞ് ചിരിക്കാറുണ്ട്.

അതിപ്പോള്‍ ഇമ്മളു ത്രുശ്ശൂര്‍ക്കാരു കാത്തോലിക്കരു തോമശ്ശീഹ മാമോദീസ്മുക്കിയവരാണു്. കേരളത്തിലെക്രുസ്താനികളൊക്കെ നമ്പൂരി മാര്‍ക്കം കൂടിയെന്ന്പറയും. എന്നാല്‍ ത്രുശ്ശൂരുള്ളവരാണു ശരിയ്ക്കും നമ്പൂരി മാര്‍ക്കം കൂടിയവര്‍.നിനക്ക്‌വിശ്വാസമാകാന്‍ ഞാന്‍ ഒരു കാര്യം പറയാം.ഞങ്ങളെ എന്തുകൊണ്ട്"കാഞ്ഞാണികാരന്‍'' എന്നുവിളിക്കുന്നു. ഞങ്ങളുടെ കുടുംബത്തിലെ ഒരു നമ്പൂതിരിയക്ഷികളെ തലയില്‍ ആണിയടിച്ച് ആവാഹിച്ച് കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരുന്നു. മന്ത്രങ്ങള്‍ ചൊല്ലി യക്ഷിയുടെ തലയില്‍ അടിക്കാനുള്ള ആണിചൂടാക്കിയെടുക്കും. അങ്ങനെ കര്‍മ്മംചെയ്യുന്ന നമ്പൂതിരി ശിഷ്യനോട്പറയും" ആ കാഞ്ഞ ആണി എടുക്കടാ..' അങ്ങനെ കാഞ്ഞാണി എടുത്തുപയോഗിക്കുന്ന നമ്പൂതിരിയെ കാഞ്ഞാണികാരന്‍ എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞ്തുടങ്ങി. ഒരു ദിവസം എന്റെ വലിയവലിയ അപ്പൂപ്പന്‍ യക്ഷിയെ തലയില്‍ ആണിയടിച്ച് കൊണ്ട്‌വരുമ്പൊള്‍ തോമശ്ശീഹ മുന്നില്‍.തോമശ്ശീഹ ആ പാതിരയ്ക്ക് വഴിതെറ്റി നടക്കയായിരുന്നു. എന്റെ അപ്പൂപ്പന്‍ മൂപ്പരെ കൂടെ കൂട്ടി. അദ്ദ്യം തോമശ്ശീഹയാണെന്നെന്നു മറിഞ്ഞില്ല. ഇല്ലത്തേയ്ക്ക്‌കൊണ്ട്‌പോയി. അത്താഴം കൊടുത്തു.ഞങ്ങളുടെ വല്ല്യ അമ്മാമ്മ മാങ്ങയും നാളികേരവും കൂട്ടി ഒരു ചമ്മന്തി അരച്ചത് തോമശ്ശീഹായക്ക് ഭയങ്കര ഇഷ്ടമായി. വല്ല്യാമ്മൂമ്മയുടെ മുട്ടോളമെത്തുന്ന വളകളുടെ കിലുകിലാരവത്തോടെ അടുക്കളയില്‍നിന്നും വിളമ്പികൊടുത്തയച്ച അത്താഴം കഴിച്ച് തോമശ്ശീഹ അന്ന് ആ വീട്ടിലുള്ളവരെയെല്ലാംഉപദേശില്ലു. യേശുനാഥന്റെവഴികളിലൂടെ നടക്കണമെന്ന്‌നിര്‍ദ്ദേശില്ലു. അവരെയൊക്കെ ജ്ഞാനസ്‌നാനം ചെയ്യിച്ചു. അന്നുമുതല്‍ എന്റെ വല്ല്യപ്പൂപ്പന്‍ തോമസ്സായി, വല്ല്യാമ്മൂമ്മ മറിയയായി. അതൊക്കെ ഒരു കഥ.തോമാശ്ശീഹ അന്തിയുറങ്ങിയ തറവാട് എന്ന്പറയാന്‍ ഞങ്ങളെപോലെ ചുരുക്കം പേരെയുള്ളു. ഇപ്പോള്‍ എല്ലാവരും തോമശ്ശീഹ അന്തിയുറങ്ങിയ തറവാട്ടിലെ എന്ന് അവകാശപ്പെടുന്നു. വല്ല്യ അമ്മൂമ്മയുടെ മാങ്ങ ചമ്മന്തി തോമശ്ശീഹ പോയവീടുകളിലൊക്കെ ചോദിച്ചുവത്രെ. ഞങ്ങള്‍ ഇപ്പോഴും തോമാശ്ശീഹയുടെ ഓര്‍മ്മദിവസം മാങ്ങ ചമ്മന്തിയുണ്ടാക്കുന്നു.

Thanks to Mr. Mohan Parakovil for inviting me to respond to this article. I will leave the literary criticism to the experts. Religion and Politics are the two sides of the same coin and you will find the conversion taking places at both. The leaders of both Religion and Politics make false promises based on the lies they were telling for years. Both are talking about something which is not there. It is the same thing but the definition is different. One is talking about democracy and the other is about haven. In both cases the audiences are idiots and educated idiots. Most of the people follow Trump are uneducated idiots. Trump made his campaign team from educated idiots (I don’t know which group Tom belongs to) and used them to keep the idiots in his team. People lost confidence in working hard and making a comfortable living. Many people try to stay where they are and do nothing to change their destiny. The lazy people always are played into the hand of religious and political crooks. Christian tells that there is a heaven where people will be living comfortably without doing any job and majority of the people like it. Because what people want is to enjoy life without doing any work. But the Hindu’s way of life after death is laborious and ‘karama’ (work) is involved in it. As I said most of the people don’t like Karama and want to have an easy life. This may be the reason for the Brahmins got converted as Christians. In politics also you can see this. Democrats go to Republican caucus and vote and vice versa. I don’t think this will change until someone comes with a better alternative. Some people believe Trump is the man and his way is to kill all the weak so that the strong can have a good life. Even some Republican is afraid of Trumps movement and plotting against Trump under the leadership of the GOP chief Preist Mitch McConnell and Crucify him . People believe Obama, Pope Francis, and Berny sanders are all the incarnation of Antichrist.
Mr. Mohan Parakovil was trying for a long time to drag me into these type dog fight. I assume you like to watch others fight while sitting back relaxed. But if you mean in earnest, thank you.
I have commented about the 'coming of Thoma to Kerala' several times before. But to make you happy- my findings.
There is no historical proof that Jesus was a real person. To me Jesus represents a collection of thoughts in the period of 1st to 4th Century of the Common Era { CE}. All that is written about Jesus are products of the 'Jesus Movement'. It is all creative imagination coordinated beautifully & for the average reader and believer all seem real like the Epics of Mahabharata & Ramayana.
If the historicity of Jesus is not authentic – we don't need to elaborate about Jesu's disciple/ twin brother Thoma.
Thoma was a common name among the Syrian Christians who migrated to Kerala and so many Thoma might have come to Kerala by the end of 3rd cent.
Even the Kottayam church don't regard it as history but just a belief. But due to the politics and rivalry between the Patriarch & Catholicos group; the faithfuls are dragged to believe that ' Thoma the brother of Jesus came to Kerala. During the time of Thoma, there was no Churches or crosses. They sprouted in the church during the times of Helena the mother of Constantine. It was a political stunt to keep the revolting christians under control. Thoma's martyrdom in Mylapoor is a Portuguese fiction and Vatican never accepted it.
Nampoothiris came to Kerala only by 8th cent of CE. If you claim you are one.......

Appearantly the historians of world renown do not have any doubt of referring to events in the course of human civilization as BC and AD events. Maybe your brain in at an exploding level that you know better than all of them combined. The eMalyaalee readers know that you are a little flaky, but please do not go this far to very near to a 'shock' level. Calm down and reform your thoughts. Andrew can stand on his own.

Thanks for inviting me to comment. There is a group writing and posting comment in emalayalee under fictitious names. Their idea is to divide people living in peace. This article also is to divide the Christian community by bringing divisive issue of race. People generally think of themselves as better than others in faith, culture, heritage etc. It is easy to take advantage of this vulnerability to come to power. BJP and RSS is doing the same thing in India to divide the people and come to power and to rule over them with issues like beef and Bharath Matha issue and patriotism. Readers need to watch out for such hidden agenda by unscrupulous people. ‘Ee parippu iviede vevukayilla’.

AD & BC are confusing and obsolete terms and so was replaced . New and scholarly version is CE = Common Era and BCE = Before the Common Era.
Originally AD meant the year of our Lord not Jesus but the Roman Emperor. The written of the gospel of Mark copied the inscriptions on stones commemorating the birth of the Roman Emperor Augusts and opened his gospel. All Roman Emperors were regarded as gods. It was cunning and politically smart trick by the gospel writer to begin his gospel as such. The Christian fathers were able to preach and fool the public that it meant the birth of Jesus. Scholars differ a lot when and where Jesus was born. It is estimated; if he ever lived, he would have been born around 10 – 4 BCE. There is no historical evidence so far. All the assumptions are derived from the gospels according to Mathew & Luke. Both differ a lot, there is no common ground between them. To conclude; AD & BC – do not denote Jesus and is not a historical proof of Jesus. Most Scholars agree that there is no proof that Jesus was a real person. Pope repeatedly stated that it is not history, but only the FAITH of the church.
There is a massive exodus from Christianity especially from RC. That is why Pope is running around apologizing & washing feet. It has only slowed down the flow out but has not stopped. Many are joining evangelic groups, many turning to be non- religious. Scholars agree to my findings, but cunning and fanatics oppose me with no reason or evidence. So my ideas are not quixotic. It is happening right in front of you mr or mrs Schcast. If you are a Christian seek knowledge from the learned in your church. Listen to what Pope is saying. Hope you won't claim to be more Christian than the Pope.

When a person analyzes the above comment one can deduce that the author is enslaved to something which not there. Or in his own word ‘quixotic or extravagantly chivalrous or romantic; visionary, impractical, or impracticable. Christians are romantic and believe that there is and heaven and they will be living there ruled by Jesus the Kinga. And this thinking has connection to the meaning of the word quixotic. After reading many of Mr. Andrews article in the pages of E-malayalee I strongly believe that he is a man of free thinking. He is willing to swim against the current. SchCast has low energy, as Trump always, says and reflects it on words and ideas he uses. The word SchCast itself is a word which reflects the meaning slavery. So person who took that as his or her name is not a person who enjoys the freedom within. Andrew’s ideas are practical and never conflicts with the teaching of Jesus. Jesus promoted a quality life on earth and rest of the heaven and hell he talked about was hypothetical. Unfortunately his so called followers screwed up everything for making money and lead a comfortable life on earth. SchCast is a victim of religion and he cannot escape from it. Here he is very cunningly associating AD/BC with Jesus and try to prove that he is someone different from ordinary people. Jesus never divides History. It was all the creation and systematic propaganda of his so called followers. Based on whatever information available on Jesus, he was not interested in any of the theology the people were preaching. Whatever idiotic things we are practicing are all the creation of the people. Once again I salute Andrew for his stand in life and request SchCast to come out of his shell and be normal person.
Human mind is a mystery. We are not aware of what is going on in our subconscious mind. If you do not like a person or organization or political party, generally you do not like anything positive related to it. On the other hand if you like a person or party, you ignore the negative news related to it, and believe all the positive things about it. So objective individuals will not believe everything that is printed in media, as the writers are usually not objective. If you do not like Oommen Chandy or Congress party, you won’t take in positive sense news to their credit. If you like the party or individual, you won’t give much weight to negative news. We all rationalize on it as nothing new or not a big deal. Herodotus has stated about Greek celebrities and statesmen that unless fate shortened their life, they have to suffer from the jealousy of common man. The reason I wrote this is because I am also not hundred percent immune from this idiosyncrasy of the mind. Some of the comments here I do not read because from experience I know it is tainted by subjective viewpoints and serve as propaganda only. Andrew’s arguments were raised in this forum before and answers given to it several times. Again the same issue is raised as that is the way propaganda works. Enough proof was given for the historicity of Jesus Christ referring Josephus and others. I think Andrew prefer to see this way, as his inclinations are such. To me it looks like some cosmic forces are influencing mind as two people react differently to the same statement or news. May be predestination in work as Apostle Paul referred to it in Romans 8:28.
I am not too much worried about whether Jesus is God or not. It never bothers me. What bothers me is that the religious addicts like SchCast and Ninan Matthulla argue that Jesus is God and whoever doesn’t believe that, will end up in hell. The argument they are making about the division of history into AD and BC and clashing with Andrews are all from their addiction to religion and slave mentality. If they believe Jesus is God and only the followers of Jesus are human beings and others (billions of people on the earth) are all destined to end up in hell then It gives the readers the reason to believe that how seriously sick these people are. These people need to be rehabilitated and brought back to the community of all religion and their faith. Though they claim that they are the followers of Christ, they don’t have the slightest knowledge about him. These brain-washed people are spewing out what they are trained to do. They cannot think because their brain cells have been completely destroyed by religion and walk like zombies.
Anyone can write anything about anything. But to say day is night and night is day is kind of far-fetched. If one refute the History of Jesus Christ, the whole history of Israel has to be false. If Scholars can accept any book of the 'Old Testament' as authentic, how come all the books written after those books suddenly become non-authentic in 'Andrew's sight?
I know there are people who are bent on refuting the historical existence of 'Jesus Christ' such as devil cults etc. But there is ample evidence to the contrary. Read one of the many examples freely available in the internet:
Historians routinely cite Herodotus as a key source of information. He wrote from 488 B.C. to 428 B.C. and the earliest copy of his work comes from 900 A.D. (1,300 years later). There are only eight known copies of his work.
By contrast, the New Testament of the Bible (with all its information about Jesus) was written between 40 A.D. and 100 A.D. The earliest known copy is from 130 A.D. and there are 5,000 known copies in Greek, 10,000 in Latin and 9,300 in other languages.
Still, to put to rest the notion that there is no historic and scientific proof of Jesus outside the Bible, we may look to Jewish historian Flavius Josephus and to Roman historian Carius Cornelius Tacitus - both well known and accepted.
Josephus, in the book Jewish Antiquities" wrote:
"At that time lived Jesus, a wise man, if he may be called a man; for he performed many wonderful works. He was a teacher of such men as received the truth with pleasure. . . .And when Pilate, at the instigation of the chief men among us, had condemned him to the cross, they who before had conceived an affection for him did not cease to adhere to him. For on the third day he appeared to them alive again, the divine prophets having foretold these and many other wonderful things concerning him. And the sect of the Christians, so called from him, subsists at this time" (Antiquities, Book 18, Chapter 3, Section 1).
Tacitus, in writing about accusations that Nero burned the city of Rome and blamed it on Christians, said the following:
". . .Nero procured others to be accused, and inflicted exquisite punishment upon those people, who were in abhorrence for their crimes, and were commonly known by the name of Christians. They had their denomination from Christus (Christ, dm.), who in the reign of Tibertius was put to death as a criminal by the procurator Pontius Pilate. . . .At first they were only apprehended who confessed themselves of that sect; afterwards a vast multitude discovered by them, all of which were condemned, not so much for the crime of burning the city, as for their enmity to mankind. . . ." (Tacitus, Annals, 15, 44).

This is my second try to post the comments. May be some systems glitches - Anyway, as a response to Anthappan's remarks - when are going to realize that there are various streams of thought and philosophy? If you insist that only your way is socially acceptable, it is similar to a 5 year old arguing that 'he wants to shake the rattle yesterday'. Democracy gives certain inalienable rights to its citizens. One of the foremost of such rights is 'freedom of religion'. I have pointed out on a numerous occasions in my comments, just like you have the freedom to believe in no diety, I do have the freedom to believe in a diety. Believe what you want man! But let others follow their beliefs and destiny.
You are not competent to preach Jesus Christ. You are utterly wrong when you interpret one's religion as fanatism. I think you are blinded by rage and hate of all religions, Christianity in particular. Christ's teaching is summed up as: Love God, love your neighbor. A true Christian cannot despise a person of another religion. Preach atheism or agnosticism which may get you some listeners. People will be religious even if you erode all your teeth in fierce rage.
