ന്യൂയോര്‍ക്ക്: വെറ്ററന്‍സ് ഡെ നൂറാം വാര്‍ഷിക ആഘോഷിക്കുന്ന ചടങ്ങില്‍ പങ്കെടുത്ത് ചരിത്രം സൃഷ്ടിച്ച അമേരിക്കന്‍ പ്രസിഡന്റ് എന്ന പദവി ഇനി ട്രംമ്പിന് സ്വന്തം. ആദ്യമായാണ് അമേരിക്കന്‍ പ്രസഡന്റ് റാലിയില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്നത്.
നവംബര്‍ 11 തിങ്കളാഴ്ച ന്യൂയോര്‍ക്കില്‍ ആയിരങ്ങള്‍ പങ്കെടുത്ത വിമുക്ത ഭടന്മാരുടെ റാലിയിലാണ് ട്രംമ്പും, പ്രഥമ വനിതയും പങ്കെടുത്തത്. ന്യൂയോര്‍ക്ക് മാഡിസണ്‍ സ്‌ക്ക്വയര്‍ പാര്‍ക്കിലാണ് പരേഡ് സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചത്.
യുനൈറ്റഡ് സ്റ്റേറ്റസ് ആംസ് ഫോഴ്‌സില്‍ നിന്നും വിരമിച്ച വിമുക്ത ഭടന്മാരെ ആദരിക്കുന്ന ചടങ്ങില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്നത് ഞാന്‍ അഭിമാനമായി കാണുന്നു. രാജ്യ സുരക്ഷക്ക് വേണ്ടി എല്ലാ ജീവിത സുഖങ്ങളും ത്യജിച്ച വിമുക്ത ഭടന്മാരെ സംരക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടത് രാജ്യത്തിന്റേയും, പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് നാം ഒരോരുത്തരുടേയും ഉത്തരവദിത്വമാണെന്ന റാലിയെ അഭിസംബോധന ചെയ്യുന്നതിനിടയില്‍ ട്രംമ്പ് വ്യക്തമാക്കി.
വെറ്ററന്‍സ് ഡേ പരേഡില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്നതിന് പ്രസിഡന്റ്മാരെ ക്ഷണിക്കുക പതിവാണെങ്കിലും ആദ്യമായാണ് ട്രംമ്പ് ക്ഷണം സ്വീകരിച്ച ചടങ്ങില്‍ പങ്കെടുത്തത്.
1995ല്‍ പരേഡ് സംഘടിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിന് സാമ്പത്തിക ബുദ്ധിമുട്ട് നേരിട്ടപ്പോള്‍ 200000 ഡോളര്‍ ട്രംമ്പാണ് സംഭാവനയായി നല്‍കിയത്. യുദ്ധത്തില്‍ പങ്കെടുത്ത ഒരോ ഭടനും രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ മഹത്വം വര്‍ദ്ധിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെന്ന് ട്രംമ്പ്
