Breaking Down the Walls - Facebook Live Event

Uncle, please feel free to share with Malayalam news outlets for this Sunday's Facebook live event.

Subject: Breaking Down the Walls - Facebook Live Event

In the days following the tragic death of George Floyd at the hands of police officers, protest rallies have erupted throughout the nation.  Following this, our Metropolitan has issued a statement sharing the death of Mr. Floyd "is met with a great sense of outrage, and anger, by all who love justice." As a faith community it is imperative we address the racial injustices happening in our society, and how it plays a role in the Indian American community.

The Northeast American Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church will be hosting a Facebook live event on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at 7PM (EST) on its official Facebook page.  This event will include a discussion co-facilitated by our Diocesan Metropolitan, His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos, and a lay leader of our Diocese, Mr. Sunil Kurian, JD, MBA.  The format includes discussion where participants may type in your questions and comments to engage in real-time.

His Grace, Metropolitan Nicholovos hopes this Facebook live event will be an avenue to empower Orthodox Christians and all people who love justice, to break down the walls of racism that separate us.

Join the conversation on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at 7PM (EST) on our official Facebook page.

First of all let's get rid of our racial discrimination,We have no right to talk about discrimination as long as we have no "Pulian Priests".Forget about that how many of us have Homes in America black neighbor hood.I live in Elmont most of the population are black, when I tell some Malayalees I live in Elmont they have a gesture like I don't belong to their class.

We Christians made God,angels, saints white. We made Devil black&all things bad is black. Then in your own home a kid is light in skin color&a sibling is not that fair the parents discriminate them by calling them "Karampi&Velumpi".

Minimize our interactions with police to the extent possible. Obey the laws, even if we do not like them. While driving, obey traffic rules. Have current driver's licence. Vehicle must have proper registration and insurance papers. If stopped by police, show respect and follow instructions. The worst thing will be a traffic ticket. Fight it in court or pay the fine. If the officer shows disrespect, there are avenues to report it. Once I was caught speeding in Lake Charles, LA. I had a good talk with the officer, did not get a traffic ticket. Another time, I got a ticket for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign (just two incidents). Vast majority of police officers are good and decent people (a few bad apples). Just imagine the stress they are under. They want to go home after their shift. Many officers are getting ready to retire because the job is too dangerous. Please do not create hostility against police. They are there to protect us. Do not create an Anti-Trump movement. Trump has nothing to do with what happened to George Floyd in Minneapolis. If a Malayalee feels this is a bad country, encourage them go go back to India and enjoy all the freedoms they want in life. I bet, no one will go. Thanks for reading my post.

It is clear from your own words that you were driving without proper licence? I don't understand why you are speeding always? Do you carry drug in your car ? we are suspicious of your account that you have only two incidents. I am pretty sure the Officer didn't check the data bank and you bribed him. Any how I don't expect much from Trump base.-Deplorable

Many Malayalees in America are unhappy that Trump is president. Many retirees are staying home and watching TV all the time. Many are getting depressed and worried for their safety. Many men are resorting to alcohol. If Malayalees are living in fear, please encourage them to leave America. They could be living very productive, happy healthy lives in Kerala. Trump will be a distant memory. Good luck to them! Church can do 'gofundme' to buy tickets for them.
