On Greed and Money (poems: Dr. Anna Sekhar)

1.
If you thought money can buy you
Friends, fame, power, control,
Sadly, you are not worth knowing!
Its far better to keep you at bay
Than getting too close to you.
For, if my wealth diminishes,
I have no raison d'etre in your eyes.
Knowing a true heart is better than
Knowing a money-grubber.

2.
Happiness is not about having pots of money, a big house and plenty
People to serve you.
Happiness is more about that
Inner peace, soul satisfaction,
Contentment with material things
And creating joyous environment.

3.
When you cannot be a minimalist
As you grow older,
When you cannot avoid greed
As you grow older,
When you want to control others
As you grow older,
When you do not want to abstain dignifiedly, As you grow older,
Age is just a number in your case,
And you have got a long way!

4.
Money and power
Money and words
Money and insults
Go hand in hand;
Life is a circle
What goes around comes around.
Never underestimate the
Power of the opposition.

5.
Wanting more is greed,
Wanting more is insecurity;
Having what you need is contented,
Having things in limited number
Is being a minimalist;
Always cater to your needs
And not your wants.
For the more you have
The more responsibilities you bear!

6.
A big house with no nostalgia
Is a house of bricks and mortar;
A big house with no warmth
Is a concrete jungle with money;
A small home with true love & care
Is a home with true happiness;
A home that supports its people
Is that place which deserves to be
Called 'a home' not 'a house'.
