It’s that time of the year
Where all humans shed a tear
Whether real, or whether fake
People are thankful before the world, it’s clear.
There are those genuine ones
Who are thankful for their mischievous sons
They laugh and cry, making sweet puns
They think about the past, about their late-night runs.
Then there are those fakes
Whose act has no brakes
Crying with others, acting like snowflakes
Who smile through others' heartaches.
Thanksgiving should be genuine
It’s all about the heart, not the airline
Not a business, it’s people’s lifeline
Don’t get your hearts sharpened, like a porcupine.
Remember those who came before
Who made the way, who cleaned the floor
Who shed some tears, so you can reach the other shore
Being thankful that they have scars that you should have bore.
