അമേരിക്കൻ മലയാളി എഴുത്തുകാരെക്കുറിച്ച് അമേരിക്കൻ മലയാളികൾക്ക് പോലും കാര്യമായ അറിയില്ല. അതിനു കാരണം ഇവിടെ എഴുതുന്നതൊന്നും സാഹിത്യമല്ല എല്ലാം നാട്ടിൽ വേണമെന്ന പഴയചിന്താഗതി വച്ച് പുലർത്തുന്നതിനാലും തന്മൂലം വായന ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചതിനാലുമായിരിക്കണം എന്ന് സംശയിക്കാം. അങ്ങനെയുള്ള സാഹചര്യത്തിൽ ഇ മലയാളി അവരെക്കുറിച്ച് ഇങ്ങനെ പരിചയപ്പെടുത്തലുകൾ നടത്തുന്നത് പ്രശംസാർഹം തന്നെ. പക്ഷെ ശ്രീ ജി പുത്തെന്കുരിശ് തന്റെ കവിതകളിലൂടെ ലേഖനങ്ങളിലൂടെ , പരിഭാഷകളിലൂടെ ഇവിടത്തെ വായനക്കാർക്ക് സുപരിചിതനാണ്. ശ്രീ പുത്തന്കുരിശിനും കുടുംബത്തിനും നന്മകൾ ആശംസിക്കുന്നു.

G. Puthencruz is one my brothers and I must say that I have enjoyed his passion for literature and especially Malayalam for a very long time!! It started when he used to write letters to me while I was working at BARC in Bombay. The letters were loaded with Malayalam words that sounded poetic and profound . He is a voracious reader, a passion that I share with him although it is in scientific literature. We inherited the passion for reading from our late mother who used to carry a spatula in one hand to stir whatever she was cooking and the other a novel that she was reading. At the dinner table, she would share the stories that she is read. I believe it is my this brother who is following closely and going beyond that traditions that our mother started. George is a critical thinker and a great philosopher that I have no problem having conversations with him for hours together. I wish him well and hope that he will continue to enrich the minds and touch the lives of Malaylees all over the world.
